Val's Bio

Valerie is an Active member of the Horror Writers Association (HWA).

In 2017, she enjoyed a four-month mentorship by Stoker Award-winning author Tim Waggoner as part of the HWA Mentorship program. In 2018 and 2021, she participated in a ten-week on-line writing workshop, Fright Club. She has continued to hone her craft in an assortment of other classes, seminars, and writing weekends. 

Valerie has a BS in Business from Johns Hopkins University and an MS in Systems Analysis from the University of Maryland. She has worked as an administrative assistant, business analyst, and project manager. 

She lived in Europe and many places in the U.S. while growing up in an Air Force family. She now lives near Charlottesville, Virginia, with her very patient husband and an equally patient Golden Retriever.
